Paheli....???

If you are one of the few who sat through the trauma of watching India's movie to the oscars you will have the same thoughts as i do.... WHAT BULLSHIT???
Paheli was not only the most senseless movie but also the most unneccessarily hyped too. I understand that it is a famous folklore et al but cant you just leave it at that!! Why make a three hour boring movie about a ghost who falls in love with a beautiful mortal takes her husbands place. Then comes a baby??? hello? thats a little too much.. the baby should have been satan or with a tail or a ghost atleast to make it even a weebit interesting... i think there may be a sequel!
All in all Paheli came we saw it and it sucked and that should have been the end of it BUT....

Black should have gone to the oscars for sure it was such a marvellous movie... it had so much meaning in it...it completely touched my heart. What performances...what a story. It was complete Oscar material...

I have no idea what was behind this 'fair' selection but i can surely say that India has lost its chance of getting its first Oscar!!

After 2 spam comments .. heres a real one ;-)

And you do write well.

I gave up having any hope when 'Jeans' was nominated for the Oscars!!! I think Satya also came out that year .. so how the board selected Jeans over Satya is beyond me. I think the producer of Jeans was on the selector board that year .. so I guess that explains how things work huh?

Hmm.. This blog is truly a "Paheli" cause on this topic I am totally "Black" out. I liked "Black", it was too filmy. though it may be good for Oscars.

I agree with 'anya' totally.Would like to add that having influential people, with connections, like SRK on your side helps I suppose.

PS: Came here from Dani's blog!!

This is from "greatbong.blogspot.com". Paheli was selected becasuse they wanted to confuse the judges at oscar that it was a chinese movie, BruceLee, Jet Lee, Pahe Lee.

I think we all are also forgetting one important thing on why it may be improper to send Black to the oscars. 'The Miracle Worker' is a play based on Helen Keller's life. It has been made into a movie 3 times since 1962 and has won Oscars already. Black was based on the life of Helen Keller and derived from the movie which itself has already won the academy award.

My point being that Black, as it is 'derived' or 'copied' - whatever you want - is not an original piece of work.

Hey I kow Black deserved more. but paheli is a story where you have lots a imagiantion and thoughts to fill in. Its a sort of realization of virtuality. Well the reason why it won is black was copied from one of the English movies so not original enough. But Paheli beats it inthat regard althugh its a remake of a kannada movie nagamandala (snake there and ghost here),its an original stuff for hollywood
